2017 Round-Up from Scott

From @scott_boardman93 –

“What a year 2017 has been, definitely my best running wise out of the 3, ran personal bests at every distance from 5k to half, knocking 6 minutes off my half time!

Not confirmed my goals yet for 2018 yet, but I have a few ideas… One simple one is to have a positive mindset about everything thrown at me!

Finished 2017 with a 10 mile run with a friend this morning. 2650km ran this year, which is 450km more than I ran in 2016.”

The Hard Winter Slog

Someone who certainly knows how to push their limits is Chris W! He attacked the winter season with a mixture of distances over the road and cross.

After setting a PB over the Half Marathon in November in 1:16:38, he went on to end the year with a fanatic 10 miler PB by a couple of minutes over a tough course – just breaking the hour barrier with a 59:59 clocking!

The cross country season also brought about some good training runs, with one in particular being 20s faster than last years efforts.

Great running from Chris – the hard slog is done now.. leading into what will be an exciting indoor racing season!

Negative Split Stuart!

Having only started with us a few months ago, Stuart is continuing to go from strength to strength and seems to be the king of running negative splits!

First up was his ParkRun back in November where he ran an impressive 21.25 – over 1minute and 49 seconds faster than his previous effort over the same course! But he didn’t stop there! With another month of training behind him, Stuart went on to record a 21.15 – his fastest time in over 3.5 years!

Negative splits of 7.12, 7.15 and a very speedy 6.52 shows there is certainly a sub 21minute and big PB on the horizon. Well done Stuart! Great running!!

Christmas PB!

Another runner who is continuing their top form into 2018 is Gavin E!

After clocking a 10km PB over a tough course at Percy Pud in early December – 43.07, he was ready to attack the 5K. Like a few of our other runners, Gavin gave up his Christmas morning lie in for some Christmas miles!

For his brilliant efforts, he was rewarded a brand new spanking 5K PB of 23.05. We’re now on the hunt for a flat 5K course for a sub 23 clocking in 2018!

800m Intervals from @thelongrunback_rachel

@thelongrunback_rachel – “Tuesday interval session of 800m repeats πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ This felt really good. Really good. Like possibly one of the best sessions since pre-teenage injury good. Met or exceeded my time goal on every rep, and didn’t let the uphill gradient get the better of me on the last one. Hoping this is a sign of things to come… Ran this evening so using a photo from a run a few weeks ago”Screenshot_20180109-002307.jpg

Gavin D ParkRun Success!

Next up is Gavin D who has made some HUGE improvements this year.

With the treacherous weather battering Scotland, Gavin braved his local park run to clock a 20.50 for his fastest 5K ever. Freezing conditions and frosty underfoot, it certainly wasn’t PB weather but Gavin came out on top with a fantastic time after clocking some seriously impressive training sessions.

We’re excited to see what he can do in 2018!
