Surrey Half 5K – 2nd lady for Lydia!

Backing up a fine performance over the 10K with a 3rd place finish a few weeks previously – Lydia went one better to finish 2nd lady at the Surrey Half 5K clocking a fine 19:30!

“2nd lady at the Surrey Half 5K๐Ÿฅˆ One of those weird races where I was convinced I still had another 10 women in front of me but it turns out only one, and she was only 15 seconds ahead. Damn it. ๐Ÿ™ˆ Quite pleased with 19:30.0 on the dot as I’ve got so much going on life-wise at the moment that training hasn’t been too consistent. Faster than my last 5K but not quite sure I deserve it. Onwards to the track season!”

Thorpe Park Half Marathon

After a disrupted build up, Rachel B took the Thorpe Half Marathon as a training run. Focus has now switched to the Surrey Half Marathon for a proper PB attempt!

“This is the first half I’ve ever done not taken as a PB attempt. And I loved it! I took the first 7 miles super easy, then pick it up a little for mile 8, with miles 9-13 pushing for goal half pace.

I absolutely love this event, and I’m so pleased I was fit enough to take part, even if it was just a training run.”

PB Galore at Mad Dog 10K

It was a cracking day out for both Jay and Lauren at the Mad Dog 10k. In his first race of the year, Jay took a spot on the podium – coming 3rd out of 2600 runners – and a brand new spanking PB of 35:04.

Not to be out done – Lauren also came away with a HUGE PB of 38:35 to take 4th place.

What a start to 2018 for both!

Valentines 10K – 3rd place for Lydia!

Lydia came away with a BRILLIANT 3rd place at the Valentines 10K – clocking 41.34.

“Happy birthday me. Starting 28 off right with a 3rd place finish at the Valentines 10K in Chessington ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿฅ‰ Haven’t raced this distance properly in over a year so I was expecting to die at 8K. But I overtook about eight ladies and found myself within striking distance of the podium with 10mins to go, and so I thought “What would Lydia do?”. WHATEVER IT BLOODY TAKES THAT’S WHAT. Nobody remembers who came 4th right?! ๐Ÿ˜‰”

Battling back from illness

Rachel B has had a tough ride over the winter months with illness but it’s been great to see her on the comeback trail! Missing her PB by only 2 seconds after a disrupted couple of weeks and on a pretty challenging course – The Lee Valley 10K – Rachel clocked a 45:58. ย  We can’t wait to see her tackle the Half Marathon next!

First up… a HUGE congratulations to Clare – running a PB a few weeks ago at the Scottish Champs and going on to win the British W50 title over the 800m. We can’t wait to see what she can do at the Europeans next week!
